Home & Kitchen Gadgets
Everyday comfort and convenience gadgets for the home — starting with portable cooling, with more subcategories added as we grow.
Most of what we cover here are personal climate-control devices — units meant to condition the air around you or in one room, not whole-house HVAC replacements. The marketing on these products leans hard on big numbers: square-footage coverage, temperature-drop claims, wattage comparisons to central air. We check those against the actual mechanism — evaporative cooling needs low humidity to do much of anything, and a "cools 20°F" claim usually means right in front of the vent, not room-wide — and against the running costs, noise level, and upkeep (water refills, filter changes) a unit actually needs day to day. When a listing doesn't disclose the specifics behind a comfort claim, we say so in the review instead of repeating it.
